 Wanda Scruggs is the Founder and President of I CAN SOAR, Inc. after working 27 years at UCR in Advancement in various capacities including a Development Officer for the Library and a Major Gifts Officer.  She and her husband, Melvin, have been Church Musicians and in Church Music Administration for over 40 years and have 4 daughters who are in Academia and the Entertainment Industry as a Professor at Azusa Pacific University and background artists for such artists as Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Christina Aguilera and vocalists and vocal producers for movies.   Wanda was one of 9 best speakers in the world through Toastmasters’ International in 1996 and enjoys aerial pursuits such as hot air ballooning, skydiving, ziplining, parasailing, flying aircrafts and traveling to foreign countries.  She is a graduate of Riverside Community College and has a BA from California Baptist University.  She also enjoys spending time with her 12 grandchildren. 

 Venette Sanders is a project manager in the finance industry.  Throughout her 41 year tenure, she has managed and supported teams in technology, training and implementation change management.  She has volunteered through community support activities with various organizations across the United States.  She creates and has a positive influence on those that she encounters.   Her passion is to help people succeed both professionally and personally.   

 Estella Cline  is a successful Realtor with Realty One Group Southwest for the past 9 years with a prior history of  working as a VP Senior Branch Manager at a local Credit Union’s for over 20 years.  I have been married to Edward Cline for 37 years. We have two successful grown son’s and one grandson. I serve on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity for the last 18 years and was elected Habitat for Humanity Humanitarian of the Year. I sit on many boards including, but not limited to, Mountain View Community Church, Riverside Family Resource Center, SW YMCA, and more. Estella has been awarded the “Power of People award, POTUS Bronze Pin Award, Menifee Citizen of the Year Award, Nominated Murrieta Citizen of the Year and much much more.  

 Deidre Goodwin is a retired office administrator from the University of California Riverside after 38 years, where she also earned her BA degree in Psychology.  Deidre has for the past five years volunteer with the Adrian Dell and Carmen Roberts Foundation as a member of the Empowering Young Women’s Conference.  She also volunteers at her church and grand children’s school, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Riverside. She has been married to Craig Goodwin for 45 years and they have three children and four grandchildren. 

  Sergio G. Diaz was the chief of police for the city of Riverside, California from July 1, 2010 to September 20, 2019. Sergio was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States at the age of seven. He was educated in public schools in South Florida and in Los Angeles County and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He also completed all course work in a public policy and administration master’s program at California State University, Long Beach. Prior to joining the Riverside Police Department, Sergio was a police officer in the city of Los Angeles for 33 years, retiring at the rank of Deputy Chief in 2010. Sergio’s professional philosophy includes a deep commitment to the concept of community policing and a belief that a police department’s effectiveness depends on earning the trust of the community that it serves.
