Wanda Scruggs is the Founder and President of I CAN SOAR, Inc. after working 27 years at UCR in Advancement in various capacities including a Development Officer for the Library and a Major Gifts Officer. She and her husband, Melvin, have been Church Musicians and in Church Music Administration for over 40 years and have 4 daughters who are in Academia and the Entertainment Industry as a Professor at Azusa Pacific University and background artists for such artists as Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Christina Aguilera and vocalists and vocal producers for movies. Wanda was one of 9 best speakers in the world through Toastmasters’ International in 1996 and enjoys aerial pursuits such as hot air ballooning, skydiving, ziplining, parasailing, flying aircrafts and traveling to foreign countries. She is a graduate of Riverside Community College and has a BA from California Baptist University. She also enjoys spending time with her 12 grandchildren.

Dr. Brewster has for years now been a supporter of the youth and adults in her occupation as teacher, and associate Community College professor with Riverside Community College District. Her passion is to serve young women and empower her through education; empowering develops strength.
Brenda Stevens is a retired nurse from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department after 20 years. Brenda has also worked with the youth department at CrossWord Church Moreno Valley for over 10 years. Brenda is a member of the Board of Directors for I CAN SOAR, Inc.

Sergio G. Diaz was the chief of police for the city of Riverside, California from July 1, 2010 to September 20, 2019. Sergio was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States at the age of seven. He was educated in public schools in South Florida and in Los Angeles County and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He also completed all course work in a public policy and administration master’s program at California State University, Long Beach. Prior to joining the Riverside Police Department, Sergio was a police officer in the city of Los Angeles for 33 years, retiring at the rank of Deputy Chief in 2010. Sergio’s professional philosophy includes a deep commitment to the concept of community policing and a belief that a police department’s effectiveness depends on earning the trust of the community that it serves.
